John Baron sat down at the piano in 2019 looking to find solace from hearing damage that had affected his mental health and livelihood as a session bassist. With no other purpose than to press forward, he began writing the slow grooves and gentle melodies that would eventually become "In the Midst of Everything", his debut album as a composer.
